As part of Kunsttage Basel, the Basel gallery BachmannEckenstein | JapaneseArt and Schauraum B have joined forces to present a joint exhibition at the intersection of architecture, spatial design and Japanese art. At its heart is the work of Werner Blaser, a Swiss architect, photographer and author who became especially known for his role in mediating between European and Japanese architecture.
His engagement with Japan is one of the central themes of his oeuvre and is reflected in his images, furniture and artefacts. These are accompanied by selected art objects from BachmannEckenstein | JapaneseArt and placed in an atmospheric dialogue with them. Titled "The Love Story. Werner Blaser & Japan", the exhibition is conceived as a homage to Japanese aesthetics, architecture and craftsmanship. It is aimed at lovers of Japan, architects, those interested in design, and anyone who appreciates the dialogue between contemporary architectural culture and Japanese aesthetics. The fitting setting is provided by the popular Franck Areal with its laid-back industrial flair.
