How are luminaires created that go far beyond their function as a source of light and become an extension of a space’s architecture? In this interview, we speak with the founders of PrintYourLight about the influence of architecture, nature and co-design on their work, the possibilities of 3D printing, and the role of lighting as an identity-defining design element.

A former closed-counter kiosk on the campus of a major healthcare company has been transformed into a modern walk-in kiosk with a welcoming atmosphere. Warm materials, carefully designed lighting accents and a bespoke luminaire made from recycled PLA define the new interior concept and give the space its distinctive character.

With more than 30 years of experience in the architecture and construction industry, we not only focus on design and planning services, but also develop selected real estate projects of our own, which we offer directly for sale. We are currently offering two semi-detached houses in Riehen for sale, with completion and move-in scheduled for the end of 2027. For the Swiss energy supplier Primeo, an existing office space in Münchenstein was comprehensively reconfigured and adapted to the requirements of contemporary working environments. The focus lay both on the conceptual reorganisation of the floor plan and on the energetic and climatic refurbishment of the existing structure. More information via link.

As part of the City of Liestal’s takeover of the former Engelsaal, our office was commissioned to support the redesign of the Stadtsaal, including the associated refurbishment works. The aim of the project was to adapt the spatial programme of the existing hall both structurally and functionally to the new usage concept, while simultaneously creating new organisational structures for an independent operation. From 24 to 26 April 2026, the exhibition «was kommt...» will take place at Schauraum B. The presentation features works by four Basel-based artists specialising in printmaking: Sabina Blaser, Helga Halbritter, Renate Steinegger and Sabina Stucky.

The opening event, including an apéro, will be held on Friday evening from 6 p.m. at Schauraum B. The exhibition will be open on Saturday, 25 April from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and on Sunday, 26 April from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Further viewings are possible by appointment until 15 May 2026.

The Main Campus of the Switzerland Innovation Park Basel Area is home to numerous innovative companies from the biotech and healthtech sectors. The Universitätsspital Basel is also represented on site with a dedicated branch and offers a forward-looking learning environment for education and training through its Skills Lab simulation centre.

From May 7 to 10, 2026, the former Basis Watch factory in Tecknau opens its doors for the exhibition «TeckNow». Visitors can experience a mix of design, art, and music centred around the furniture creations of Werner Blaser. Vernissage on May 7 at 7 p.m., exhibition from May 8 to 10. More information here…

Due to ongoing construction works on Austrasse, access to our office is currently restricted. However, access to our office remains possible. Parking is still available in our courtyard (Austrasse 24).

Founded in the early 1930s in Arlesheim, Holle is one of Switzerland’s most traditional companies and is regarded as a pioneer in biodynamic baby and toddler food. As one of the first manufacturers worldwide, Holle received Demeter certification. We are supporting the relocation of the offices from Riehen to the Stücki site in Basel-Kleinhüningen and are responsible for the tenant fit-out of the new workspaces, including interior design and an exhibition on the company’s history. In collaboration with Dino Laprano, modern work environments are being created alongside an exhibition showcasing the company’s diverse range of food products, including baby food.

After 20 years at the helm of the Board of Trustees of Architektur Dialoge, Christian W. Blaser has passed on his role as President. With the transition to a rotating chairmanship within the board, the foundation is reorganising its structure while continuing its established event series and keeping a focus on its future development. As a non-profit organisation, the Swiss Sustainable Building Council (SGNI) is committed to promoting sustainability in the real estate industry and, among other activities, certifies buildings under the DGNB System Switzerland. At this year’s Swissbau, the Stücki Science Park was honoured with a Platinum certificate in the category of sustainable laboratory buildings.

As architects and general planners, we had the privilege of supporting the Stücki Science Park throughout all project phases and are delighted to receive this significant recognition. Even after completion, we continue to be actively involved on site and have been accompanying the development for many years with various tenant fit-out projects, including for Lonza and, most recently, for Holle Baby Food.

The topic of green roofs and biodiversity conservation in inner cities has gained increasing importance in recent years and is becoming a key component of sustainable urban planning. As an architectural practice, we regularly engage with this subject, for example through our work on the Stücki Park project on Hochbergstrasse. This provides good reason to take a closer look. In line with our credo “sharing experience,” we aim to gain deeper insights into why urban greening and bird conservation are so important and what role Basel plays in this context. We spoke with two experts, with the interviews presented in two parts.

Fresh off the press, handy, and flexible – these are the defining features of our new company brochure. Unlike the previous edition, we deliberately decided against a bound booklet and instead opted for a modular card set that can be assembled individually and flexibly. This allows our projects to be presented with all relevant information in a precise and high-quality manner, complemented by a clear overview of our office and our philosophy. In addition to the tenant fit-out for the SIP (Switzerland Innovation Park Basel Area – Main Campus), we have carried out similar works for the following clients in House HORTUS. The partition wall systems, particularly in combination with integrated ceiling fans or ceiling bulkheads, were used multiple times across all tenant fit-outs.

The referendum opposing the relocation of the Naubrücke in Laufen was rejected, thereby clearing the way for the start of the project. The objective is to consolidate road and rail traffic along the railway embankment while at the same time creating a continuous leisure and recreational area that integrates future uses for living, working, recreation and leisure. At the same time, the project forms part of a broader flood protection strategy.

For this reason, the Naubrücke will be relocated downstream of the Birs River, behind the ice sports and leisure hall, and rebuilt at this new location. In future, an underpass will provide a direct connection between the ice rink and the swimming pool. In addition, a new route for pedestrian and cycle traffic will be created. As the planned road alignment affects the climbing hall currently used by the SAC Hohe Winde section, the project also includes the relocation of this facility. A suitable site in the immediate vicinity of the ice sports hall has already been identified.

Blaser Architekten are supporting the project and, within the ARX Group SA planning team, are responsible for the architectural services.

The Naubrücke in Laufen is currently the subject of debate. A possible relocation is being discussed, which supporters justify with the bundling of road and rail traffic. This, they argue, would create the opportunity to establish a cohesive recreational and leisure area, while also enabling complementary uses in the fields of housing, work, recreation, and leisure. The canton, the municipality, and all political parties support the new route. Opponents, on the other hand, argue that complex engineering structures and additional construction would lead to significantly higher costs. According to them, the improvement of school route safety cited by supporters could also be achieved without relocation; a tunnel under the railway at the football field would be sufficient.

Earliest from 2029 onward, the main building of the Kunstmuseum will undergo comprehensive renovation and remain closed for the duration of the construction period. For the departments and staff whose offices are located in the main building, temporary facilities will be provided at St. Alban-Vorstadt and in the harbour. These include the restoration department, the studios and offices of Education & Mediation, the Provenance Research Department, and the entire Prints and Drawings Collection.
