SFH Bottmingen

The plot is located on a southwestern slope on Bruderholz with a view of the Leimental valley. The steepness of the property, the far-back building line, and official regulations do not allow for horizontal outdoor areas. This led to the concept of placing the living area with a large terrace on the upper entrance level and the bedrooms and basement rooms on the ground floor level.

The open floor plan with a continuous terrace connects living, dining, cooking, and housekeeping areas, which are accessed from the center of the house, to create a floor flooded with daylight. The volumetric design of the barrel roofs sloping down toward the valley is illuminated at night with artificial light. The single-family home, designed by Blaser Architekten in 1999, was extended on the east side with an addition that is now indistinguishable from the original house. The extension created generous interior spaces.
