Founded in 2006, the non-profit foundation Architektur Dialoge (AD) aims to raise public awareness about architecture and urban issues while fostering dialogue between the industry and private users. To achieve this, Architektur Dialoge offers a wide range of events on architecture and building culture, inviting the public to learn more through lectures, guided tours, and workshops. One of these offerings is the Making Of series, which provides insights into craftsmanship and architecture. Hosted by Christian W. Blaser, a member of the AD Foundation Board, the series not only highlights completed projects but also tells the stories behind their creation—from the initial idea to their realisation...

In Allschwil, we learned how Kunz and Mösch Architects collaborated with Regent AG to design and produce custom lighting for the institute’s new building. The focus was on the interplay between architecture and lighting design.
Veneers and Wooden Art in "Dirty Harry" At the veneer warehouse of Roser AG in Birsfelden, the Atelier Neume and local carpenters gave us a fascinating glimpse into the design and execution of the Dirty Harry residence. The selected veneers added both aesthetic and functional value to the project.
Hourdis Wood-Clay Ceilings for the Hortus Project The Hortus project construction site in Allschwil showcased the collaboration between SENN, Blumer-Lehmann, Herzog & de Meuron, and ZPF Engineers. The innovative Hourdis wood-clay ceiling system impressed with its sustainable material choices and the harmonious blend of tradition and modernity.
Extended Reality in Urban Spaces At iArt’s premises, we experienced how AIRE: Extended Reality Experiences redefines the way we perceive urban spaces. This fusion of digital and physical design sets new standards for the future of architectural presentation.
Sculptural Spatial Design in the ALBA House In the ALBA House, we were captivated by sculptural spatial designs using ready-made textiles. Under the guidance of Pierre de Meuron and Philippe Baumann, fabrics by Création Baumann were transformed into versatile forms such as curtains, acoustic panels, and canopies. Birgit Roller and her team from CASA TESSUTI added a distinctive touch to the project.
Coming Up: Glass and Craftsmanship The next Making Of destination is Basel-Münchenstein, where architect Robert Hösl (Herzog & de Meuron) and glass artist Matteo Gonet will showcase their collaboration. We look forward to seeing how glass merges architectural precision with artisanal expertise.

Auf dem Podium waren Hans Peter Wessels, alt Regierungsrat Kanton Basel-Stadt, Gabriela Theus, Geschäftsführerin Immofonds Asset Management AG Zürich sowie Christian W. Press Release. After 20 years at the helm of the Board of Trustees of Architektur Dialoge, Christian W. Blaser has stepped down as President. With the transition to a rotational chairmanship within the board, the foundation is reorganising its structure while continuing its established event series and maintaining a focus on the foundation’s future development.
Pinterest, digital mood boards, Instagram, ChatGPT and other AI-powered research tools – the number of digital information platforms is vast, and they’ve become an integral part of our daily workflow.
And yet, our analogue architecture library possesses a unique power of its own. As a tactile archive of architectural history and a source of inspiration for future thinking, it remains a constant presence in our studio – sometimes used more, sometimes less, but always accessible.

As an architectural practice, we regularly engage with this subject, for example through our work on the Stücki Park project on Hochbergstrasse. This provides good reason to take a closer look.
