Rear building Austrasse

Blaser Architekten were commissioned by the owner of the rear building at Austrasse 32 in Basel to draw up a study on how the former 3-storey workshop building could be converted into residential accommodation and then rented out, and an ideal tenant was found in the form of the Seltisberg-based institution 'Heime Auf Berg AG'. The institution offers a unique range of care and support services for infants, children, adolescents, women and families in difficult situations in north-west Switzerland. The NPO has 140 residential and care places at various locations in the cantons of Basel-Landschaft and Basel-Stadt.

Blaser Architekten converted the rear building, a former carpenter's workshop that was converted into a residential building in 1977, into living and working spaces for the purpose of family care on behalf of the Mirest pension fund (Tozzo Group). The mezzanine floor and the ground floor flat in the front building with access to the rear courtyard were also converted.
