Competition Lüdin Area

Lüdin AG has sold its site in Liestal to the Credit Suisse Real Estate Fund SIAT. The owners want to plan and realise an attractive residential development and service areas on the site on the basis of the urban development guideline project. Blaser Architekten were involved in this interesting and important development for Liestal as local architects with the New York firm Karpf Khalili Architects and the landscape architecture firm CZ Studio Associates from Venice as part of an anonymous invited project competition.

The submitted project develops from its context in two respects. On the one hand, it emphasises the urban spatial conditions underlying the structure of the old town, its location on a perceptible rising base and its division into spacious streets and small-scale passages. On the other hand, it makes reference to the nearby railway station area with its belvedere-like forecourt, which creates a hard edge to the south. The basic idea behind the design is to create a suburban neighbourhood and a link between the new station district and the historic old town.

The jury decided in favour of the project design by Steib Gmür Geschwentner Kyburz Partner AG Architekten und Stadtplaner, Zurich.
