MFH Lindenhofstrasse

Blaser Architekten were commissioned to prepare a study for the future use of the property at Lindenhofstrasse 16, which was built in 1912. After a comparison between renovation, conversion and new construction, the client decided in favour of a replacement building. The location in the conservation zone necessitated an intensive dialogue with the city planning commission.

The project was characterised by an examination of the gap between the buildings and the existing dominant firewall to the south, which borders the garden. By bending the south façade, the frontality to the firewall is played over. The floor plan design with the exposed sanitary centre and the balcony, conceived as a room extension, leads to the space being expanded in terms of perception.
