SFH Riehen

The former commercial and apartment building on Morystrasse in Riehen from the 1920s was converted into a single-family home with a spacious living/dining area on the ground floor, bedrooms and bathrooms on the upper floors and storage rooms, utility and hobby rooms in the basement.

The house was completely renovated and the interior and exterior space redefined as a family home. The shop floor on the mezzanine floor was connected to the outdoor space in the front garden and rear courtyard as an open-plan interior.

A spacious seating area with a pergola was created in the rear garden, accessible from the living area. The front garden, which is also accessible from the living room, was slightly raised as a gravel bed and separated from the north-facing guest entrance and the south-facing driveway with carport and shed by walls at seating height. A 1.8 metre high fence made of slotted sheet steel with a door to the guest entrance and sliding gate on the carport side forms the end of the front garden facing the street.
