Novartis Campus WSJ-155

Planning and realisation of an office and laboratory building on the Novartis Campus for the design architect Yoshio Taniguchi from Tokyo.Blaser Architekten / Butscher Architekten were the executing project architects for the office and laboratory building in the Novartis Campus area. We provided planning services from the construction project up to and including the construction documentation.

The 'Floating Box' building concept by design architect Yoshio Taniguchi from Tokyo defines an elevated glass box, detached from the ground, so that the public space can flow underneath the building. The 'Floating Box' floats like a milky, unapproachable crystal on four dark risers clad with stone slabs, which form the foundation for the supporting structure. All infrastructures and media are concentrated in the four riser zones and distributed across the individual storeys. The glass 'ExhibitionLab', which can be seen and experienced from all four sides, stands detached and freely surrounded between the risers. Beneath the arcade, which runs along the busy Fabrikstrasse, a single flight of stone steps leads into the inner courtyard to the 'CampusStore'.The 'ExhibitionLab' represents the Novartis research area on the campus. Under the arcade, which runs along the busy Fabrikstrasse, a single flight of stone steps leads to the 'CampusStore' in the inner courtyard.

The 'ExhibitionLab' represents the Novartis research area on campus. Along the 'ExhibitionLab' façade, as well as from the campus pharmacy on the gallery level, interested parties can follow what is happening and the work in the 'ExhibitionLab'. The laboratories are located on the upper floors one to four. The office units with different office space concepts are located on the west side of the building on each floor. The building offers a total of 184 laboratory and office workstations.
