The Circle at Zürich Airport

The design by Japanese architecture firm Riken Yamamoto & Field Shop emerged as the winning project from a three-stage architectural competition with over 90 high-calibre entries from all over the world. The design promises to set a milestone in the architectural landscape around Zurich Airport. From the outside, the building references the large forms of the existing airport. Once inside, it conveys the experience of a city centre in miniature - with a high, urban quality of stay. The small-scale, city-centre atmosphere is a testament to typical Swiss restraint. 'The Circle' is the first global location with the ambience of a small town and the synergies of a large city. Blaser Architekten AG were involved in the project with a usable area of over 210,000 m2 as local architects. The project is now being realised by the total contractor HRS.
