The interior design and furnishings on the 7th floor of Clinic 1 at Basel University Hospital, which were inadequate in some cases for patients with supplementary insurance or private and semi-private patients, no longer met current standards compared to other hospitals and needed to be improved.
The renovation of the flooring in the corridor was followed by the refurbishment of a total of 42 patient rooms. In addition to furnishing the patient rooms, a new built-in wardrobe was developed and all surfaces were renewed. Before the construction work began, the new design of the patient rooms was presented by means of a mock-up. The construction work was then carried out in stages during ongoing hospital operations.
In addition to the redesigned rooms, the common areas in the middle of the corridor were also redesigned and refurnished.
